Thanking everyone for their amazing support for Ride+Stride 2016, John Pickthorn, our Ride+Stride organiser, said: “Whether you cycled, walked, sponsored someone, or opened your church and provided welcome refreshments, you have been amazing. Thank you for all your hard work. You have helped to save beautiful and historic churches for everyone to enjoy.” Stay tuned for news of our next Ride+Stride on Saturday 9 September 2017.

News stories from the Friends of Essex Churches Trust

A selection of art and silverware will be offered for sale in aid of the Friends of Essex Churches Trust on February 25 at historic Layer Marney Tower

The art will be on display in the Long Hall. 20% of sales will be donated to the Friends of Essex Churches Trust.

In a musical interlude the mezzo-soprano, Marina Abel Smith, will be performing operatic arias and jazz favourites accompanied by pianist, Michael Heighway.

Rachel Grainger, the Chairman of our Events Committee, has issued a warm invitation to this special event:

“Our Art Sale at Layer Marney will be a perfect antidote to the February gloom. We look forward to seeing you and hope you will find a masterpiece to buy.”

We are very grateful to Nicholas and Sheila Charrington for generously allowing us to hold our event at their home.

During the evening Nicholas will briefly recount the history of Layer Marney Tower.

Book now on our Events page. Tickets will be issued at the door.
