Brentwood quartet will hit the right note with Tendring churches cycle ride

Four singers from the Brentwood area will be in harmony with a good cause when they get on their bikes on September 14 and support the sponsored Ride and Stride of the Friends of Essex Churches Trust. In addition to cycling around Tendring district churches, they will sing a selection of four-part motets in each church which they visit.

Richard Baker, who co-founded SongCycle in 1996, said: "Last year we cycled 40 miles, visited 25 churches and sang 15 different motets. To date SongCycle have raised about £30,000 for the Friends of Essex Churches Trust. Churches need funds for essential repairs and restoration work. This is a very good cause."

This year SongCycle's sponsored ride will start at St Andrew's Church in Weeley at 9.00am and cover up to 50 churches of various denominations. The four singing cyclists will do a circuit of churches in Little Clacton, Great Clacton, Great Holland, Kirby-le-Soken, Walton- on-the-Naze, Frinton and Tendring and return to Weeley by about 5.00pm.
