News stories from the Friends of Essex Churches Trust

Lord Petre, the Lord-Lieutenant of Essex, will open The Friends of Essex Churches Trust Christmas Fair at Hylands House, Chelmsford, next week.

The organiser of the fair, Emma Brice, of the Friends' Events Committee, has said:

“A large number of independent retailers have been attracted to our fair next Thursday. They will be offering a wide variety of unique items that cannot be found on the High Street.

“Ten per cent of sales will go towards repairing and improving churches and chapels in Essex and East London.

“Shopping for presents for all your family and friends has never been so easy. Our fair offers everything from gifts for the home and garden, to clothing, accessories, jewellery, children’s toys, presents for men, stationery, Christmas cards, candles and decorations, local food products and lots more besides. Shoppers are certain to find something special to suit their taste and budget.

“Why not come and enjoy a relaxed and effortless shopping experience and treat yourself to a light lunch with wine in elegant surroundings while supporting a great cause?

“This is our traditional Christmas Fair. As a charity we go back to 1951 when we were formed to repair churches which had been badly damaged in the Second World War. Now our work helps to make sure that these beautiful and historic buildings are maintained and have modern facilities so that they can continue to benefit our communities for generations to come."
