News stories from the Friends of Essex Churches Trust

The Friends of Essex Churches Trust is proud to support the Diocese of Chelmsford?s Gutter Clearance Scheme, launched on 29 November 2013. The aim of the Scheme is to encourage churches to carry out regular maintenance of their gutters, downpipes and drains, and to make this easier the Diocese has accredited four contractors who are approved to carry out this work. We are supporting the Scheme by offering an automatic grant of £50 to the first 100 parishes to have their gutters cleared using one of the accredited contractors.

For further details, please go to

To apply for a grant, please contact:
John Bloomfield,

As with all our grants, Christian churches of all denominations are eligible.

The problem: a blocked and overflowing gutter can cause damage to your building that might cost thousands of pounds to put right.

The solution: The Ven. Martin Webster, Archdeacon of Harlow, getting his hands dirty clearing the gutters at Galleywood.
